Templemore Snooker Club
Honour
Martin Dwan
A beautiful charcoal portrait and inscribed
plaque were unveiled on Friday 22nd June at the Parochial Hall, in honour of
the late Martin Dwan, who for several decades was the mainstay of the local
Snooker Club. the unveiling was performed by Peter Dwan, (son) who himself
has become a generous and dedicated benefactor of the club. Speaking to a
capacity crowd Peter recalled the influence his late father had upon him and
instilled in him a great love for his home town which is still with him to
this day.

MAHER ANTHONY
COLLECTION

The above scanned copy of an
original document, permits the bearer to attend the First Sitting of Dáil
Éireann in the Mansion House, on the 9th May 1919.The historical
significance of this document is that it is signed by the great Irish
patriot Terence McSweeney, Lord Mayor of Cork, & a member of the first Dáil
who sadly died on Hunger Strike.
We are delighted to announce
that in the very near future, we will be updating the website with many
documents and pictures of historical relevance to the town of Templemore.
Gathered by the Maher Anthony Family over the last two centuries, they
provide an invaluable window on the heritage and history of Templemore
We are extremely grateful to
Mrs Betty Maher Anthony and her family for making these invaluable documents
available to us. They are indeed a source of pride & joy to Templemore
people all over the world, and hopefully will bring back memories of an age
gone by.

JOE CONNORS
MEMORIAL

A
fitting tribute has been erected at Main Street, to the late Joe
Connors RIP, by his former workmates on North Tipperary County Council. The
beautiful piece of street furniture is crafted from cast iron and teak, and
would have brought pleasure to the late Joe, who was often seen around his
native town, sitting on the Mall Bridge, or other under the Town Hall,
discussing life with the locals. The Weeping Willow in the background was
nurtured and supported by Joe after it was damaged by a truck some years
ago.
